This book is a dissection of the bed and its history, uses and meanings.
In these pages, the bed is observed from many angles: an intimate space, a place for activity, a safe territory, a prison, a surveillance space for sanitary check, a healthy space, a public space…

Along history, cultural attributes around the act of sleeping developed from such sources as historical circumstance, religious belief, myths or environmental adaptation. “Is interwoven with the histories of social, sexual and sanitary attitudes, of architecture and building, on interior decoration and furniture” (Wright, 1962)
